Books I've read lately

Lately I've been trying to read more, so I thought I'd share the books I have finished with you. Also, since we've had a HUGE garage sale, and my mom wanted to get rid of the not-so-God-glorifying books, I'd thought I'd help out... and because I love reading (I just don't do enough of it).

  • The true confessions of Charlotte Doyle ~ this was an okay book, it had a good story behind it, the author did a good job imitating sailors in the book. It's just I don't really want to read a book with curse words in almost every sentence we read. It didn't have that many curse words, but it was still offending.
  • The Great Gilly Hopkins ~ I do not recommend this book for any child to read! This book was full of curse words in almost every single page I turned, adn every sentence I read.
  • The River ~ this is the sequel to Hatchet, but I don't recommend this book at all. This again it has curse words, God's name in vain. I also don't recommend Hatchet, Brian's winter, and The winter room.

Just thought I'd give a heads up on books not to read!

Our Trip to El Paso

We all had a great time with family, we went swimming, we had a couple of family get togethers. It was a very short trip, but it was fun seeing family, and I did manage to take pictures, but not as much as I wanted to. I hope you like the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

We went through Fort Stokcton, Texas there and back.

We drove through A LOT of mountains on our way there and back!

My great - grandma had saved baby land turtles. My dad's family is always saving some sort of animal :)

This is Uncle Mike, he loves to wear hats all the time.

This is Aunt Jenny she and I took a lot of the pictures :)

This is Aunt Vicki, she loves to make goofy faces for the camera.

This is Grandpa Larry and my dad.

Like I said it was a very short trip, but we all had a great time. Sydney and I are looking forward to seeing them again.

I am leaving

Tomorrow my family and I are leaving for El Paso, TX to see my dad's side of the family. We will be gone for at least four days. I will be taking my camera, so when I get back I'll blog about the trip and post pictures then.

Have a blessed rest of the week and great weekend!

I did it!

Yesterday I went to my first Threads of Love meeting and learned how to knit. While I was there the Lord blessed me with knitting needles, knitting looms, and baby yarn (I didn't know what I'd need). So last night I finished my first premie baby boy hat, I'll post pictures later. I also finished my first toddler sized hat, again you'll see pictures later.

And today Dad had to go to Laredo, TX so I took my knitting supplies and finished my third hat.

Threads of Love is a small non-profit organization that makes hats, booties, 18" blocks, blankets, and journals for Premature babies and the parents. To find out more about Threads of Love visit http://www.threadsoflove.org/
